VMDC: 50 years in aviation

We bring you an article by Francisco M. M of A21 MX about an extraordinary achievement by our collaborator Víctor Manuel del Castillo who recently completed 50 years in aviation. What an amazing career so far!

“Learn to share”Engineer Víctor Manuel Del Castillo

When we talk about air safety we are talking without a doubt about the most important part that impacts the most in aviation of any country and when we talk about people who have dedicated their entire professional lives to work to achieve it, support, learn and share at all levels possible their experiences and knowledge on the subject, in Mexico and other countries we have to refer to the Engineer Victor Manuel del Castillo.

Don Víctor began his career in Aeronaves de México in 1969 and today he is serving his first fifty years in aviation, becoming a true safety professional.

Engineer Del Castillo has been recognized many times for his professional work, which has led to a large number of instances, companies and institutions in Mexico and other countries, always in search of safety improvement from its most basic principles to levels more sophisticated and that today requires anyone who is involved in aviation to be able to guarantee safe operations and therefore the human lives that are transported by air.

Safety and the human factor in the industry should not only be taken care of during ground operations, through technicians but through, and in principle, the highest levels of airline administrations and flight academies and Don Victor works with that philosophy in mind every day.

His motto “learning to share” is not only a way of working for Del Castillo himself, but it has become a profound message addressed to all those with whom he has contact during his courses and conferences, taking the concept of air safety and the human factor that is better understood and accepted every day, despite some resistance, especially when talking about costs, which in the end turns out to be the least important when it comes to guaranteeing human lives and expensive equipment.

The courses and conferences that the engineer has taught in several countries have become famous, which has earned him recognition not only from those who have attended his talks and courses but also from the DGAC authorities, which, by the way, they have certified him as an instructor.

In other parts of the world he has also achieved an important name as a reference in safety, as in the FAA of the United States itself, which appointed him as a representative in the safety team in that country by the district of San Antonio, Texas, in Mexico, South America, Canada and Spain.

You can talk a lot about the professional curriculum of Víctor Manuel del Castillo, but this time I just wanted to send you, through these lines, a modest recognition and my personal congratulations for five decades of professional work and committed what, coupled with his Gift of people, knowledge, experience and skills as a communicator places him among the best promoters of air safety in Mexico.

I am sure that any country would be very proud to have the work, knowledge, attitude and experience of a safety professional of the engineer Del Castillo’s caliber.
